The Origins of the Fleur de Lis

The Fleur de Lis has been always associated to the grandeur of France, and it is one of the most ancient heraldic emblems of the world.

The Legend tells that Clovis, King of the Franks, was baptised and given a lily by the Virgin Mary. This fact was presented as evidence by the French Bishops in the Council of Trent to support the precedence of their monarch, Francois I of Valois.
